nothing special has happened since the last post. but what i would like to do is continue a previous post i had. “for granted.”
today while waiting for the shuttle to go back to Taipei MacKay Memorial Hospital it was about 3:00PM and the shuttle leaves at 3:10PM. so im there in line waiting for the shuttle to arrive and a kid about id say only 6 or 7 years old with his mother walks out from the hospital front door. And the security guard and guy that coordinates the shuttle stuff asked them where they were going. they were right next to me and i was looking and the guy just stood there waiting for a response. and next thing you know the kid is doing sign language to his mom whom was mute but im not sure if she was deaf or not. i felt bad for the mom yet i felt worse for the kid. why the mom? because without her son how could she get her point across? or have someone accompany her to the hospital? and for the boy being so young having to do all the communication things for his mom. while the security guy was talking to the kid you can see he was shy. scared. afraid. yet he had to do what he had to do because his mother couldnt. then comes to the why do i have all my senses? why am i so lucky to have these senses? i couldnt stand there like it was nothing and not notice it. i felt bad.. who would want one of their senses taken away? or who would want their mom or dad to not be able to tell them stories? to not be able to say “i love you”?
All i can say is. Thanks God for giving me what i have.
rofl on another note.. i just saw on some chinese news station.. hah some kid got yelled at by a teacher and the teacher didnt allow the kid to attend graduation because his/her socks were too low.. ROFL… brings back memories of my past school stupid rules:
DLS:
-Tuck in shirt.
-No ankle socks.
-No spiked hair.
-No hair shorter than a #2.(?)
-Black or White OR Black & White shoes only.
-No trading cards.(pokemon, bball cards)
Alemany:
-Tucked in shirt.
-Sue Mills.
-Guys hair couldnt be too long. (dont know the rule b/c never had long hair)
-No hair shorter than a #2.
-Bookstore locks only.
ahah.. school.. *sigh*

k so on friday i was at some party for interns and stuff.. noone knew me.. rofl but i sat at the doctor’s table… ahah it felt so weird.. some of them were looking at me like whos that.. rofl….. =/ but the food wasnt that great.. buffet style…
Saturday my uncle woke me up at like 7AM and we went to go ride the gondola that brings you up the mountain.. so we got there and we ate mcdonalds.. rofl i have a picture of their pancake box but ahh my camera’s upstairs and too lazy to upload so ill do it next time… so we go wait in line and its hot as hell.. then we ride it and go all the way to the top and then come down to the zoo. there were a lot of animals.. but they look really small compared to the ones we have at like the SD zoo.. rofl… so who would of known… a tropical island that is HOT and HUMID has penguins… ahah.. and a lot of other native animals like a bear… uhh? ahah
Sunday (today) didnt do anything other than eat out for lunch.. with old people talking FOREVER.. but i dunno might be doing some other stuff tonight…. so yeah…
its just really hot here =/ and humid so it makes everything feel so sticky.. =/ oh well.. almost only a month left…
theres just times where you just dont want to sweat. and theres times when it feels pretty good to sweat. i hate the weather here. it just keeps getting hotter and hotter along with higher humidity.. walking to the subway station going up stairs waiting for the train then getting off and transfering to another train walking down stairs waiting for it to come then getting on that train and going to transfer to another train walking there and waiting. then when finally i arrive at my stop walking up stairs and outside to the hospital. thats my everyday routine and i dont know how but it seems like im the only one sweating really bad… ahah or its just they know how to hide it better.. but then theres the when im playing basketball sweat.. you dont even really realize all that sweat until your done playing.. ahah well since im on the basketball subject… played again yesterday and some kids came up to my cousin and i again and was like 2v2..we’re like alright so ahah this one kid was couple inches taller than me and then there was another kid in his school uniform and rolled only one sleeve up i dunno like he was all that and shit? ahah but yeah they got owned. but yeah afterwards the sweat blahhhh.. ahah
today i saw a 14 week fetus that the doctors believed to be triploidy. this doctor over 25 years of seeing these cases has only seen 5 in his career. and i get to see one even before i started a career. ahah so yeah….. tired and bored. currently at the hospital…

so i dunno been procrastinating on posting.. but it was probably because its too hot or ive just been too lazy.. rofl.. so within these days of not posting i realized a lot of people judge someone before they even know them.. so i went with my cousin to go play basketball at a elementary school around here.. we were just shooting around and these 2 kids come up to us asking if they could play with us and we obviously said sure. so we were just shooting around and they wanted to play 2v2. so it was me and my cousin vs them two.. they were about like a couple inches taller than me.. so we played and i had the ball they would leave me open id take the jumper and make it. ok that was just the first point.. then as the game went on maybe after 2 more times they looked at each other and started to smile/laugh/giggle like in amazement that i could shoot. ok well then they tried to cover me and i still took the shot and made it.. rofl… so my cousin would shoot too and make it.. and then i balled one kid up and broke his ankles and drove to the basket and they were in even MORE amazement like wtf ahah he can do that shit? k well we played 5 games.. and my cousin and i were 4-1 OWNED…. rofl
but its not like im any good at bball… but im not gonna lie im pretty badass on the court..
on saturday we went to my aunts friends house and had like a feast.. they prepared so much food. and then we went to another of her friends house.. k now this story is how i pre-judged the situation… ahah so we take the subway then a bus that took forever to get to us and it was hot as hell. so we get to our stop and im thinking we are there… NOPE i was wrong.. we had to climb a freaken mountain kinda.. rofl all the houses were all weird looking and what not.. so we are walking up while everyone is like driving up etc.. then we finally get there
and im like wow this is a weird place… well the outside.. so we went through the gate and then we had to walk up stairs to her place so we get there and im sweating like no other because of the heat and humidity… so im sitting there like great this place probably doesnt have ac.. and why the heck are we here… but it turned out she did have ac and we ate at her place and it turned out to be very different yet enjoyable.
*sigh* shouldnt judge a book by its cover. well im not saying i do this all the time.. but i did and i shouldnt.
but today i went out with a family friend and he brought us to a buffet. tooooo muchhhh foooooood. =/ and we went to some temple’s god’s birthday celebration with all these people facepainted or masked? and they were dancing and doing there thang… i took pictures but too lazy to load them… they did their normal chinese firecracker thing and everyone was offering food and whatnot and praying with incense… and it was REALLY HOT.. then we went home and it started to rain then it stopped then it rained and stopped and there was a huge rainbow.. and i slept.. ahah SOOOOOO HOTTTTTT
well.. ive been in taiwan for one month.

why dont we have trisomy 13 or 18 or etc…? why dont we have down syndrome? why dont we have some neural tube defect? after only what 3 weeks? here in taiwan.. the place i ‘hang’ is in the genetics area… after seeing aborted fetuses (sp?) and going to a doctors office hours its hit me… seeing kids with genetic disorders i dont know how to say it but you just see them and feel bad for them. they seem happy. but they are only a couple years old they dont understand how they look different from others or why they have this disorder. there was this one boy that came with both his parents and sister who was only like 8 or 9 who KNEW what checkup had to come next. he remembered exactly what the doctor should do next. it was amazing. along with seeing a couple of kids at the office hours there was an adult about 32ish? hearing how his disorder slowly took over his life was pretty shocking. he lived a normal life, he even served in the army. *note* here in taiwan all the males after a certain age have to go and serve in the military. k well up until about 27 years old he started to struggle walking on his own, he had to hold onto the wall or rails to walk. at about 29 he totally lost the ability to walk and was forced to use a wheelchair for the rest of his life. during the office visit they did test on him to check for his muscles and it was clear that he was losing his muscles. he had no knee reflex and could barely raise his arms.. his mouth was slowly deforming but had the ability to chew.
after seeing only theses few cases.. ive come to realize that being alive or being born without some genetic disorder is a real hard thing to come across. the hospital has atleast 2 cases of medical reasons to abort a fetus EVERY WEEK. how lucky am i to come into this world healthy without any genetic disorders? then comes all the other small things of having a place called home. or being allowed to get an education. or better yet the luck and fortune to live in the united states. where there are many children out there starving or without shelter.. im not saying id like to trade what i have.. but im saying that its hit me and ive started to realize that i shouldnt take things for granted.
this post might not make any sense but to me it does and i guess its just a thing you need to experience first hand to really understand.

so today i went to the lab and they were like ok we’re gonna give you a project to do.. and im like alright cool.. and they were like ok we’re gonna have to take your blood. uhh so im like alright this shouldnt be anything.. so the guy takes my arm and does whatever he needs to do and the blood was slowly filling the tube. and im like umm okkkk and he lifts the whole needle UP like horizontally k well i can see my skin going upwards from the puncture… ahah wtffff and it took awhile to stop the blood but oh well… so my arm was starting to hurt afterwards.. but eh w/e so then i went to go do the “project” aha and my blood is in like an incubator as we speak! ahah well its gonna be there overnight… so i guess more on that tomorrow….
everyday has been pretty much routine until i get to the hospital… ahaha
oh yeah i got a cue stick… pretty cool but i havent gotten the chance to use it yet. =/
OH YEAH! omg i thought this was pretty weird/cool aahha at the hospital underground parking thing they have like the weirdest way to store their cars.. its weird you park your car then it lifts it up and then a car parks under it.. ahah
